Sensational Showdown in Tarouba: West Indies Elect to Bowl Against India!

Toss: West Indies elected to field against India

In the third One-Day International at Tarouba, Shai Hope emerged victorious in the toss and opted to have India bat first, as West Indies aspire to secure their first ODI series win against India since 2006.

The hosts maintained an unchanged XI. On the other hand, India persisted with the absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, while making two changes: Axar Patel and Umran Malik were replaced by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Jaydev Unadkat.

For Gaikwad, this marks his second ODI appearance, whereas Unadkat makes his first in almost a decade. Notably, it will be Unadkat’s eighth ODI, and interestingly, his last 50-over match was also against West Indies in Kochi back in November 2013.

Hope expressed his desire for the seamers to exploit the early moisture in the pitch. He also anticipated the ball to come on to the bat with better response here than it did in the first two ODIs in Bridgetown.

Today’s match marks the first men’s ODI at the prestigious Brian Lara Stadium. Prior to this, the venue has hosted a men’s T20I and six women’s white-ball games, three in each format.

Although there is a threat of rain later in the day, for now, the sun is peeking out of the clouds.
